Dans les montagnes

We just spent a few days in the Alsace region of France, drinking wine and eating smelly cheese, and got to drive in the Vosges mountains and take a short hike. It is gorgeous here! This hike (and I use the term loosely, it was more of a 40 minute stroll due to limited time…) was done off of the Route des Cretes, between Col de la Schludt and Col du Bonhomme. We’ve seen lots and lots of cyclists too! There are many, many beautiful small towns, and Paul is enjoying driving our little manual transmission Citroen too (though gas is 1.40 euros/L here!). As far as wildlife sightings, we’ve seen lots of quail-type birds as well as storks which nest on houses in Alsace this time of year. (oh, and ironically it's really difficult to follow the Tour over here!) Tout est bon!

What a view - we are so jealous! Last year, we also found it hard to follow the tour, mostly because they were obsessed with the stupid World Cup and the Zidane fiasco.

Looks like you all had a great time. And got to see some awesome views. And I am sure you got to taste some great wine. Hopefully it won't be the last time you make it out to france. Look foward to hearing about the trip once I get back or you get back.
