Nittany Valley Half Marathon

This past weekend, Paul and I headed to State College, PA to visit family and run the Nittany Valley Half Marathon. This would be our 3rd time running this race, though we missed a few years recently. This is a fun, late-season race on a tough, hilly course with very unpredictable weather. The race has the feel of a low- key club race, and finishes with a 1.5 mile uphill that has you wondering why you keep coming back. This year the predicted 'wintry mix' held off and we woke to an inch or so of snow and temps around 30. Paul signed up at the very last minute, figuring it would make for an easy day if he stuck with us. Paul, my sister, and I ran together for almost the whole race, at a comfortable pace, and finished in 2:07. This was my slowest half in years but it still felt like a nice workout, and not racing was just what I needed right now. My family decided we need to make this a tradition so hopefully we'll be heading back to Happy Valley to do this one again next December!
